This year, I’ll be headed back to Santa Fe to teach a week long course in Portraiture. Our theme for this summer’s class will help you focus on capturing the soul of your subjects and reconciling it into an exciting new body of work. I want to teach you not just about artificial lighting techniques but also about what it takes to connect with your subject and build trust. We will work in the studio AND on location.

Last year's Santa Fe class

By the end of the week, I want you to feel the confidence you’ll need in order to walk away with images that inspire and satisfy your passion for photography. This is my greatest responsibility to you and I hope, your biggest asset to gain as a participant. The workshop runs from July 24th to July 30thI invite you to sign up (space is limited!) and come with the desire to meet new friends, develop new skills and above all, make work that’s unique to your style.

Be prepared to learn as this experience is something akin to a photography bootcamp! You’ll work very hard but the rewards are worth the effort you put into it. I can promise you this.

Director Reid Callanan and his devoted staff at the Santa Fe Workshops have designed a fantastic program that builds upon your knowledge of photography in one of the most magnificent places in the United States: New Mexico. With an incredible terrain, a diverse climate and an endless supply of settings to photograph, this workshop becomes an exercise in observation and detail. Are you up for the challenge?

Last year, I was utterly amazed by the work produced by weeks end. I’m thrilled to be back again and can’t wait to meet each of you this June.

See you soon!

It was a GREAT workshop! My work improved markedly from beginning to end. A friend looked at my images and says it’s the best work I’ve ever done.

Paul, wow…thanks again for a great week that became a really valuable & memorable experience. I appreciated your daily individual critiques that blended encouraging remarks with constructive guidance to challenge us and move us ahead. You then reinforced that guidance with each of us during our assignments in the studio and on location. And we all came home with wonderful photos! Hope you lead many more workshops.
